The residents of Malta take great pride in their
community and the village is home to a very involved citizenry. Citizens
of Malta are very involved in community issues and concerns, educational
organizations as well as churches and religious institutions.
The Community Action Program Corporation provides a number of significant services to assist individuals and families in need. This agency is involved in Head Start, senior nutrition programs, home delivered meals, adult basic education, literacy programs, legal aid and many other vital services. Citizens in Malta participate in a number of civic organizations that take an active role in the community and strive to make Malta a stronger community and a better place to live. Citizens participate in the Masonic Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4713 and Auxilliary, the M & M Jaycees and the Malta Business Association. Although Malta is not a very large community, the village is still home to a number of churches that seek to meet the religious and spiritual needs of the community. Residents of Malta are also quite involved in the work of the local schools. Malta is a part of a countywide school district. In tying together General John Hunt Morgan and his raids into the Ohio territory with its own Civil War heritage, Morgan County High School goes by the nickname of "Raiders."
